YP work

The Prevent Guy is an experienced school worker, having provided workshops and assemblies to hundreds of thousands of young people across the UK. He was a Home Office-approved intervention provider, and a mentor to those working with the Government's 'Prevent' programme.

Using his experience working as a mentor, and as a Prevent Lead for incoming referrals, he is able to have difficult conversations around a variety of subjects, including:

The Prevent Guy's sessions support schools in meeting their safeguarding and Prevent responsibilities by helping young people understand radicalisation, extremist ideologies, misogyny and harmful online influence. Sessions can support the implementation of the Prevent Duty under the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, as well as the safeguarding expectations set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2026. Our work also supports schools in addressing online safety, harmful content, misogyny, violence against women and girls (VAWG), and the development of critical thinking and resilience.

• Example of a recent work ​

​​​In this session, we explored misogyny as part of the radicalisation process. Students defined radicalisation by discussing amongst themselves and then feeding back.

We then went on to explore the manosphere and certain misogynistic influencers, looking at the impact they  have in shaping a person's understanding of themselves, others and the world. We explored how this can, in turn, influence their attitude towards relationships, masculinity and how they should treat women. It also provides an opportunity to explore echo chambers and the algorithms that determine the content we see online.

Due to the shared belief's of online misogynists and other groups. it also allowed an opportunity to discuss extreme right wing-ideology.

Learning objectives

​

By the end of the session, students will:

1. Understand what radicalisation is and how a person can become influenced by extremist or harmful ideas.

2. Explore different ideologies and beliefs, and understand how these can influence attitudes and behaviour.

3. Develop critical-thinking skills to question information, opinions and narratives they encounter online.

4. Understand the role of algorithms and echo chambers in shaping the content and viewpoints they are exposed to.

5. Recognise how online influencers and communities can influence attitudes, including around masculinity, relationships, women and wider society.

6. Explore misogyny and VAWG, and understand how harmful attitudes can develop and potentially escalate.

7. Understand how different extremist groups can share beliefs or narratives, despite appearing very different on the surface.

8. Know where to seek help or support if they are concerned about something they, a friend or someone else is experiencing online or offline.

Minimum charge £825 (Half day) for up to 3 x one hour sessions across a morning or an afternoon.

£275 for each additional session

• Ongoing telephone advice offered for any prevent concern
